Light Thoughts

When I decided to add a blog to my website, I knew I’d write about real-life light-bearers, but I
thought the first blog should tackle the question, “What is a light-bearer, anyway?”
Imagine my surprise when I looked the term up and found a real definition! Heck, I thought I’d
made the word up! But the basic idea is that a light-bearer is a person who either guides and
inspires people who are on a spiritual journey, or one who helps other people steer through life’s
challenges. And life is full of challenges! Think about it… anyone can be a light-bearer! It’s
really just any person who actually lives the golden rule…
At some point, we’ve all had light-bearers in our lives. One good example happened to my older
brother, who attended Berkley College of Music in Boston on a full scholarship. However, the
scholarship was for one year only, and there was no possibility that our parents could pay, or
even help with tuition for his second year, and specialty colleges are crazy-expensive. However,
a professor who saw his potential somehow got permission for my brother to freely audit all of
his second-year classes. What he learned in those two years changed the course of his life.
That’s what this blog is about… Light-bearers: people who see a need and find a way to fill it.
Each week I’ll post a new story that gives us hope, trust, or it might even be something fascinating!
